    • While the fire department does not accept old extinguishers for recycling many vendors who sell fire extinguishers will take them back for recycling. This document from the MA DEP provides guidance on how to dispose of fire extinguishers: (Fire Extinguisher Disposal)
  • Does the department fill pools?
    • The Townsend Fire and EMS department does NOT provide pool filling service. There are although local companies in the general area that do provide this service for a fee.
  • If I need an ambulance should I call 911?
    • You should always call 911 regarding any request for an ambulance or fire department response. If you have a business or inspectional service related question you may contact the office at 978-597-8150 or visit us online for information related to inspectional services. You may also book smoke and CO detector inspections online.
  • I am interested in or have question about he Harbor Fire Museum who should I contact?
    • The Harbor Fire Museum is operated by the Townsend Fire and EMS Relief Association not the Townsend Fire & EMS Department. Any question related to the museum can be directed to the Relief Association.
